Cash Donations

Financial contributions to recognized disaster relief organizations are the fastest, most flexible, and most effective method of donating. Organizations on the ground know what items and quantities are needed, often buy in bulk with discounts, and, if possible, purchase through businesses local to the disaster, which supports economic recovery.

Ensure your donations are going to the right place. Check with local government officials or volunteer agencies if you want to verify a charity or for a place you can donate to.

In-Kind Donations

Donated items are needed, and knowing what is needed, where it is needed, and getting it there at the right time is the key.  Before collecting items to donate, confirm what is needed with local charities or government agencies.

Disaster Recovery Funds

Disaster Recovery Funds (DRFs) have been activated across the region in support of vulnerable populations following severe flooding on June 21, 2024 and continuing. The DRFs provide an opportunity for the public to give, with the reassurance that donations will be quickly moved to resources where they are needed most to adapt to evolving priorities. The flexibility of the funds ensures counties and communities can respond to supplement needs being provided by existing nonprofit, local, state and federal programs. Learn more and find a list of communities that have activated or established funds by visiting the Greater DSM Community Foundation website.
